Why a Saber?

Cadets traditionally carry a ceremonial saber during formal ceremonies and graduation β€” a handcrafted, personalized symbol of everything they've earned across four demanding years at the Academy. It's not required, but for families who choose one, it can become one of the most treasured keepsakes of their cadet's journey.

This year, the Parents Club is launching its first Saber Fundraiser with the goal of providing a personalized saber to every one of the 20 Alabama cadets graduating in the Class of 2027. We hope this is just the beginning of a new annual tradition, with the club holding a Saber Fundraiser each year to recognize and celebrate our Alabama cadets as they prepare to graduate.

$500 × 20 cadets = $10,000 goal

How Sabers Will Be Awarded

Our goal is to fund a saber for every one of our 20 graduating cadets. If we come up short of the full $10,000 goal, sabers will be awarded in this order:

  1. Paid Parents Club members first. Cadets whose families are paid members of the club are guaranteed a saber.
  2. A lottery for everyone else. Whatever funds remain beyond that will go toward the rest of the class, with recipients chosen by random lottery β€” as many as the remaining funds allow.

Every gift brings us closer to covering the whole class β€” thank you for helping make that possible.

Personalized sabers take 4–6 weeks to produce, which is why we're asking for gifts by January 15, 2027 β€” well ahead of graduation.
